We had a fantastic turnout for our social isolation group last week. Advocacy 1st Luton delivered a gardening-themed session in collaboration with Luton in Bloom.
To encourage our horticultural skills, the staff at Let’s Hub in Luton welcomed our group with tea, biscuits, doughnuts and croissants. Once everyone had settled in and enjoyed some refreshments, we began the hands-on gardening activity.
We were introduced to seed planting and supported in planting a vegetable of our choice using soil and gardening materials provided. This activity was guided by Shyrus Naaz, (Advocate and Engagement Coordinator at Advocacy 1st) and a member of the Luton in Bloom team. Everyone received a gardening basket and a selection of seeds to take home, encouraging them to continue the activity and cultivate their own green spaces.
The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, and the group thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Feedback was extremely positive, with participants expressing how much they appreciated the practical nature of the activity, as well as the opportunity to connect with others in a supportive environment.
